MCAA’s Board of Directors approved a $1 million contribution to the Mechanical Contracting Education & Research Foundation (MCERF) to support MCERF’s growing list of education and research activities.
The Foundation is putting the funds to use with a program of internships and scholarship awards. The intent is to improve the capture rate of MCAA members for the best college-level talent by giving those students more and better exposure to MCAA/MSCA members. The scholarships help encourage academic excellence among MCAA’s 50+ student chapters across the U.S. and Canada.
According to MCERF President Mark Rogers, “…the development and funding of large-scale industry programs such as the MCERF’s internship and scholarship programs is beyond the scope of the association.” He added that industry research programs are best accomplished by an independent body that can work fluidly across and through external organizations.
