Awards

MCERF underwrites two awards offered annually by MCAA’s Career Development Committee, on a competitive basis.  The links to the two awards given each year are here:  Educator of the Year Award and the MCAA Student Chapter of the Year Award.

The Educator of the Year Award recognizes MCAA student chapter faculty advisors for exceptional accomplishment as advisors, educators, and mentors of students who plan to develop a professional career with the mechanical construction industry.

The Student Chapter of the Year Award recognizes an MCAA student chapter for outstanding achievement as an organization of students who are planning careers in the mechanical construction industry. The award recognizes exceptional achievement in governance and leadership, membership recruiting, fundraising, community involvement, and career development.

Contact Ann Mattheis (amattheis@mcaa.org) with questions about the nominations procedures.

Scholarships

Scholarships serve multiple purposes for the Mechanical Contracting Education & Research Foundation (MCERF).  First and foremost, they assist student scholars with the ever-rising costs of a first-rate college education.  And, a scholarship program that involves not only students but also their student chapters and faculty advisors, helps form a brand recognition for and loyalty to MCERF that other, lesser programs cannot match.  MCERF Scholarships speak loudly that the organized mechanical contracting, service, and vendor communities are serious about developing great students AND great educational programs.

There are four named, memorial scholarships that MCERF underwrites and/or promotes each year.  They are listed here and each is linked to a combination information/application sheet.

Scholarship Contributors

The Mechanical Contracting Education & Research Foundation (MCERF) is proud to fund scholarships in a unique way that honors the tradition of providing funds to deserving students but also incorporates the use of its network of 50+ student chapters and faculty advisors as a way to honor both academic excellence and excellence within student chapter operations. You can learn more at Chapter of Excellence Grants.

Reilly Family Scholarship

Chapter of Excellence Grants reward student chapters for extraordinary performance and accomplishment during the prior year and encourage their continued growth and development. Faculty advisors apply for the grant on behalf of the student chapter; 50 percent of the funds received support the chapter, and 50 percent support MCERF scholarships. MCAA student chapters that have been chartered for at least one year are eligible for this grant, except those that have applied for an Emerging Chapter Grant for the same grant period.
