Check Out OPUS at MCAA 2009

The new Online Piping & Usage Specification (OPUS) Project, which involves the development of an online resource with the capability to make dynamic combinations of pipe types, materials, applications and joinings, will be ready for you to try out at MCAA’s 2009 convention in Scottsdale, AZ (March 1-5, JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa). The project involved the creation of a free, online resource on piping usage and specifications with direct links to manufacturers and suppliers who, in turn, provide information about their products to help users choose the right products for their needs. The target audience for this resource is those who are new to the industry—recent college graduates, faculty and college students—who need to know the building blocks of our industry and materials used. The OPUS task force chose the web-based format for its ease and convenience in providing a variety of information. OPUS has been developed by a team of industry volunteers that include contractors and manufacturers/suppliers and faculty and students at Ferris State University who helped complete the data loading and beta testing last fall. Visit the Cybercafé and Resource Center at MCAA 2009 for a demonstration of this valuable new member enefit. If you’d like a preview, visit http://opus.mcerf.org/.
